Parts of a plant

Root - Part of plant that grows underground.

Shoot - Part of a plant that grows above the ground.

Stem - Helps most plants to stand erect and bear branches .

Branches - Bear Leaves

Leaves  - Green part of plant that makes food for the plant.Also known as "Kitchen of the Plant" .

Flowers - Most beautiful part of a plant.

Fruits - Seeds are found inside a fruit.

Seeds - Germinate to produce new plant (seedling)

Tendrils - The thread like structure in plants.

Types of Plants

Creepers 
Plant that have long thin stem and creep on ground.

Bushes 
Plants that have multiple branches are called bushes.

Trees 
Big, tall, thick plants are called trees.




Parts of the plant that we eat-

Leaves -  Spinach, Lettuce, Cabbage, Fenugreek (Methi)

Stem -  Potato, Onion, Turmeric,    Ginger,  Garlic, Asparagus

Roots -  Radish, Carrot, Sweet Potato, Beetroot

Seeds - Wheat, Maize, Rice

Fruits - Mango, Apple, Orange

Flowers - Cauliflower, Broccoli


Use of Rose Flower
1. Rose is used in making Garlands and ornaments .

2. It is used to make Gulkand.

3. We get rose water from rose.

4. Rose is used in decoration.

5. It is used in festivals. 

6. It is used to prepare medicines.

7. It is used in perfumes or as fragrance in food items.

Use of Rose Water
1. It relieves headache.

2. It heals cuts, burns and scars.

3. It soothes skin.

4. It prevents infection.

Use of Lotus Flower
1. Lotus is an aquatic plant.

2. It is very beautiful flower.

3. It is used in religious worship.

4. It is considered a symbol of purity.

5. It is our national flower.

Use of Sunflower
1. We get edible oil from sunflower.

Use of Marigold
1. Marigold flower is used as ornaments.

2. It is used as  medicine also.

Use of Jasmine
1. We get hair oil from Jasmine.

Use of Lily
1. We get perfume from Lily.


Flowers that bloom in Winter
Rose, Marigold, Jasmine, Lily, Tulip

Flowers that bloom in Summer
Jasmine, Lotus
