Plant Parts

Plants
Plants are living things. 
Plants provide us food . 
Plants give oxygen to all living beings.

Parts of a plant

Root - It is the part of a plant that grows underground. Roots help in absorption of water and minerals from the soil. Roots are of two types - Tap roots and Fibrous roots.

Shoot - Part of a plant that grows above the ground.

Stem - Helps most plants to stand erect. Helps in transportation of water and food.

Branches - Bear Leaves,Flowers and fruits.

Leaves  - Green part of plant that makes food for the plant.Also known as "Kitchen of the Plant" .


Flowers - Most beautiful part of a plant.

Fruits - Seeds are found inside a fruit.

Seeds - Germinate to produce new plant (seedling)

Stomata - Leaves have time pores on their surface called Stomata.These help leaves in exchange of gases.

Parts of the plant that we eat-
Leaves -  Spinach, Cabbage, Fenugreek (Methi)

Stem -  Potato, Onion, Turmeric, Garlic

Roots -  Radish, Carrot, Beetroot

Seeds - Wheat, Maize, Rice

Fruits - Mango, Apple, Orange

Flowers - Cauliflower, Broccoli
